With a finger
He quietened the painful dreams
With a touch he erased the nightmares.
When the roaring heartbeat
Deafened her pleas
He closed her ears
With his own hands
Mute, he could say nothing!
Bathed in her very pain.
He held her close
And closer still
Pleading selflessly
For her respite.
